HostChoice.net - eBay Seller with writting career
eBay Seller
I am a semi-retired literacy teacher, who has worked with just about every age group from preschoolers on up. Although I had helped to train new postal employees to sort & deliver mail while I was a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, I started my teaching career proper as a graduate student at a large public university. Since then, most of my students have been young people from inner-New York City with learning and emotional challenges. It's hard to pick favorites, but some of the most fun I ever had was reading & discussing Susanna Kaysen's "Girl, Interrupted" with a group of high school juniors and seniors. I also absolutely loved studying & writing different forms of poetry with a class of seventh and eighth graders. Among all of my students, the one I have probably most admired was a forty-year-old who was just learning to read and write-- we began with the alphabet.

For another thing, I feel it might be a little unfair to many of my books, who probably don't feel very loved. I have lent them to other people without ever asking for them back; I have outright given them away to students who expressed the slightest interest in them; I have left them behind at coffee houses and never returned to fetch them. But worst of all are the cheese puff stains . . . [to be continued]
